On the performance of platform-based international new ventures: The roles of non-market strategies and managerial competencies

The implications of non-market strategies have gained considerable attention in recent international business and strategy research. However, an in-depth understanding these their underpinning mechanisms platform-based new ventures (INVs) remains underexplored. To close this gap, study investigates the drivers performance outcomes embraced by internationalizing firms. We propose that mediate relationship between managerial competencies performance. also theorize perceived domestic institutional voids (PDIVs) would a full strengthening effect on proposed model. tested our conceptualization using unique sample comprising 181 INVs whose headquarters are based institutionally precarious sub-Saharan African country-Ghana. While results confirm most predictions, counterintuitively, analysis provides no support for moderating PDIVs Together, findings offer important theoretical practical IB research, especially INVs.
